In-Town Basketball League for Middle School Boys

This program will provide a competitive alternative to the existing Travel Basketball program, which requires a greater time commitment and cost for players and their families. The WBA's new recreational basketball league is open to players at all skill levels and will offer scheduled league games as well as skills practice. The league will run for 10 weeks on Saturday afternoons beginning on December 3rd at Winchester High School. Registered players will be divided into balanced teams, receive uniform shirts, and play games against their friends! Please note that players registered for Travel Basketball are not eligible to participate in the recreational league.

Winter Travel Basketball Registration Is Now Open!  Grades 6 thru 8

Winchester travel basketball teams compete against similar teams from in and around Middlesex County and the North Shore.  Travel teams practice two evenings each week and play 1-2 games per week (Winchester home games are generally played on Sunday
afternoons). Practices start in late November and games begin in early December.  All teams play in our end of the year WBA March Madness tournament.

Open practices are held in late October and early November to form teams and improve skills. Travel players exhibit a wide range of experience and ability. Multiple teams per grade can be formed so that every player interested in travel and willing to make the time commitment can play and improve.  Online registration for this program is now open at http://www.winchesterbasketball.org The registration deadline for Travel Basketball is October 27th.

Summer Basketball Clinics (Boys and Girls)

Shortly after the end of the school year, the WBA runs separate camps for boys and girls. The camps are typically directed by the respective coaches of the WHS boys and girls varsity basketball teams. Due to the popularity of the clamps, space is limited. The camps emphasize development of individual skills and team play for players of all abilities, with separate divisions for boys and girls in elementary, middle and high school. Children entering grades 3-12 in the Fall are all invited to attend.

A typical day at camp includes:

-Warm-ups, stretching -Individual drills (dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork)

-One on one, small sided and five on five competitions

-Lunchtime lecture and demonstration

-Games
